Is AI a good or bad thing?

It’s easy to be swept up in the doom and gloom. After all, the fear of the unknown is only our pragmatism beckoning.

If movie franchises like “The Matrix” and “The Terminator” have taught us anything, it’s that humanity would be well served to prevent AI from gaining any form of irreversible power.

Experts all seem to disagree on the likelihood and timing on whether singularity (think Skynet from the Terminator) ever comes to be. What the consensus does agree on, is that it isn’t possible without a mass connection to the physical world.

I’m glad to say that we are not there yet.

But hey, Underground AI has you covered if we ever get close.

A more pressing matter to consider is that close to a billion jobs globally will be impacted due to AI. This has already begun.

Time and time again, advancements in automation have destroyed mature industries and planted seeds for the new. AI based automation will be no different.

I urge everyone reading to make an active effort to continuously learn and upskill, so that we navigate this landscape as a collective and as individuals remain net beneficiaries of change.

Change can be chaotic. But within lies so much opportunity to grow.

This is the only positive outcome we could hope to achieve.

This newsletter is not for the technical engineer or data scientist, but for everyone else looking for ways to improve their business, work flow and general quality of life.

While some technical aspects are unavoidable, I place extra effort in simplifying terms and guides for all of the non-technical readers out there.
